the 'big pool'

I joined my neighborhood's private pool for the summer. Today, I took Drake for the first time. It took about 25 minutes of sitting on the steps for him to warm up, but soon he was in my arms splashing around. It was so fun! It was refreshing, being a new experience for him. He's never been in a pool larger than his medium sized baby pool with a built-in slide. I was afraid it'd take days or weeks for him to brave the deep, but he eased right on in today.
I'm really proud. :) The next step is to get him to put on his swimmies. He thinks they're kind of weird right now, and I can't blame him. ha.

Two date nights in one week? Now this could be a record I'm setting.
I'm excited, I need (overnight) date nights like this. Now, just to stay awake after having been up since 3:30am! Ahh. I might try that gimmicky 80 hour oral energy spray of Kenneth's.. I know, weird. Scary. But when you have a night to be act like a teenager again, you get desperate to stay awake.

Things are looking up.

Just to change the most recent post, I thought I'd share a little act of Drake.

We were sitting at the table together, me on my laptop, Drake coloring in one of my notebooks. He noticed the spiral binding on the spine and started feeding his crayons through. To his delight, they'd slide right on through and onto the floor - plop!
Yay! Yay! Yay!" he shouted bouncing around in the chair. He'd accomplished something, he was proud and amused. I had to smile at the pile of crayons on the floor and share in his happiness.

That's the kind of joy I want to revel in on a daily basis.. little acts of accomplishment. If I tried to find something each day, I bet I could. My little buster is a good teacher.

Feeling kind of apathetic, kind of dismal. I'm in a foggy funk. I want out.

I've got wild staring eyes. And I've got a strong urge to fly. But I got nowhere to fly to.

face paint, waterfalls, oh my.

I had such a fabulous weekend. My husband and I went to the Renaissance Fair on Saturday while my mother-in-law so kindly watched the baby. The weather couldn't have been friendlier - sunshine and slight breezes. I had my face painted with fantasy swirls to match my necklace and tank top. We shared a sundae, saw pirates, rode in ship swing buckets and laughed.
On our drive home, we stopped off at High Falls for a few pictures since it was getting late and the park would close soon. But it was enough to steal a few hugs and take in the sheer beauty of the green grass, evening wind and calming sound of a rushing waterfall.
I'm totally thankful for my weekend off work, I need to plan more of these. I feel revitalized.
